“One of my best ways to exist is in sketchbooks.
When you’re not sure what to do next: sketchbook.
When you’re not sure what colour: blue and orange.”

Eszter Simavari is a Budapest-born investigator-interventor-innovator, who loves to collaborate with friends.

A4, full colour, folded to A6. Also available as part of the six-issue Series Twelve set.

Colossive Cartographies use a simple pop-out format based on the Turkish map fold. We’re collaborating with creators including cartoonists, fine artists, poets, writers and photographers to bring an unpredictable range of visual practice into a hand-folded treat.

Description

Eszter’s cartography features a sketchbook that began life at a bookbinding workshop run by Julie Macbean. Julie screen-printed the beautiful sheet music that Eszter has used as end-papers.

Later, fellow ‘creative adventurer’ Vicky Graham helped Eszter to expose positive and negative traced images of an orange on to a silk screen. And the blue lines? “They were drawn in a workshop run by Wallis Eates,” says Eszter. “I was feeling a bit directionless and suddenly this radiant orange mirage appeared out of the blue.”
