“South London to Margate, from memory…”
‘This Colossive Cartography is a depiction of the train journey from South London, where I used to live, to Margate, where I now live, from memory.
‘The experiences of feeling melancholy or sad or hopeful or drunk are mashed together into a kaleidoscope of horizons, hills, pylons and clouds. The piece is a collage of reduction linocut prints with layers on layers forming an image of a physical and emotional journey.’
Lily Zee Hughes makes art that reflects everyday life, including the political, the poorly, the boring and the strange. Her work is founded upon a desire to make objects and fuelled by a need to try to articulate the complexity of the day-to-day.
A4, full colour, folded to A6. Also available as part of the six-issue Series Eleven set.
Colossive Cartographies use a simple pop-out format based on the Turkish map fold. We’re collaborating with creators including cartoonists, fine artists, poets, writers and photographers to bring an unpredictable range of visual practice into a hand-folded treat.
